We Help Adults Who’ve Had Stem Cell Injections Make The Most Of Their Procedure —So They Avoid Setbacks And Get Back The Things They’ve Given Up.
A written, phase-by-phase plan for all six months after your injection — so you always know what you’re cleared to do.
Stem cells respond to what you ask the joint to do. Ask too little and nothing remodels. Ask too much too soon and you flare it. We build the loading around the procedure you already had, week by week.
We don’t perform stem cell injections. Wherever you had yours — down the street or another country — we handle everything that happens after it.
Ron was headed for a double knee replacement. Two years later he played 18 holes three days running.
Backed by 330 five-star Google reviews and 90+ more on Yelp — from a physical therapy practice that has been treating clients in San Diego since 2014, and now works with them worldwide.
One question, then the right assessment
Where are you recovering?
Your answer changes what we’d recommend, so it’s the first thing we ask — before any form.
Anywhere in the US or abroad
A written program you run at home or in your own gym, built for your injection site and your sport, with video coaching and check-ins. Most of our clients are here.

You Didn’t Spend $15,000 To $30,000 To Guess Your Way Through Recovery.
You did the sensible thing. You researched providers for months. You compared clinics, saved the money, maybe travelled for it. Then the procedure was over — and suddenly you were piecing recovery together from YouTube, Facebook comments and advice from people whose situation is nothing like yours.
You rested. You waited for the pain to settle. Maybe you saw a physical therapist who handed you a sheet of exercises that had nothing to do with the procedure you’d just had. And somewhere around month three you started wondering whether the injection had worked at all.
Here’s what nobody explained: the injection did its job in the first few weeks. What it needed from you afterwards was a specific sequence of load, in a specific order, at specific times. Without that, the cells have nothing to build around.
Why nothing you’ve tried has moved it
Six Ways A Good Injection Gets Wasted
Almost every client we speak to arrives having made at least two of these. None of them are careless — they’re what happens when nobody hands you a plan.
Resting through the whole thing
Waiting for pain to disappear before moving. Twelve weeks pass, the joint is quieter, and the strength that protects it is gone.
Going straight back to the old routine
Same program, same loads as before the procedure — because nobody gave you a different one.
Treating a flare-up as failure
Flare-ups are information about load, not evidence the injection didn’t take. Handled wrong, each one costs weeks.
Generic physical therapy
There is no certification for post-injection recovery. A good therapist who has never managed one will run a standard protocol on a joint that isn’t standard.
Stretching a healing site
Pulling on the joint because it feels tight and stretching feels harmless. Early on, it isn’t.
Guessing at the clearance question
“Can I do this yet?” — asked every week, answered by a search bar.

Meet the founder
Dr. Chris Garcia, PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS
San Diego’s first and only residency-trained Sports Clinical Specialist. Doctor of Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, then an elite sports residency at The Ohio State University, advanced training with Dr. Shirley Sahrmann, and three years as a physical therapist at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
He has been rehabilitating people after regenerative procedures since 2008 — starting with cartilage transplants, before anyone was saying “stem cell” out loud. Olympic athletes, UFC, professional tennis, NFL Combine training. All of them came back from a procedure asking the same question you’re asking now.
He owns Sports Performance Physical Therapy, teaches as adjunct faculty at San Diego State, hosts The Stem Cell Recovery Podcast, and built the method these programs follow.
Every client goes through Dr. Chris’s Recovery Method. Six phases across twenty-four weeks, with a clearance rule at every stage for what you can do now, what waits, and what stops. He built it, and he trained every therapist who runs it — Dr. Shane, Dr. Brandon, Dr. Jordan and Dr. Pete, all four of them Doctors of Physical Therapy. They write your plan against the method with him, and he reviews how your joint is responding as you move through it. Read the full story →

Three Things The Right Program Does That Rest Can’t
Gives the cells a direction
Tissue remodels along the lines of the stress you put through it. Controlled load tells the repair which way to organise. Rest tells it nothing.
Rebuilds what protects the joint
The muscle you lose in the first eight weeks is the muscle that keeps load off the joint for the next twenty years. It has to be put back deliberately.
Finds the ceiling before you hit it
Progression is tested, not assumed. You find the edge of what the joint tolerates in a session with us, not in the middle of a round of golf.
The 24-week arc
Most Clinics Give You Exercises. We Give You Six Phases, In Order.
This is the real structure behind every program we write. Dates shift with your joint, your procedure and your goal — the order never does.
Active rest
Walking only. Protect the site while it does the work you paid for.
Mobility
Range and flexibility first. Nothing loaded, nothing forced.
Activation
Waking the muscles around the joint. Bands enter here.
Reintegration
Back into a real fitness routine, built for volume before load.
Strength
Weight training returns. First running, if running is the goal.
Power
Full routine, full speed, back to the sport you actually miss.
Every phase opens that phase’s articles and videos in the Recovery Library. At week 24 you sit down with your six-month review and decide what comes next.
The clearance system
Every Week, You Know Exactly What You’re Cleared To Do.
Clients tell us they’d pay for this part on its own. Nothing is left to interpretation — every movement sits in one of three lanes, and lanes change as you earn them, not when the calendar says so.
Mobility work
Safe from the first week. Restores range without loading the site.
- Joint mobility drills
- Tempo breathing holds
- Guided range work
Weighted work & light plyometrics
Added once you clear the milestones for your phase.
- Loaded strength, 6–15 reps
- Light jumps and hops
- Zone 2–3 conditioning
Power and impact
Held back until late in the arc. This is where self-directed recoveries go wrong.
- Depth drops, pogos
- Max-effort lifting
- Full-speed return to sport

What actually happens
Three Steps Before You Touch A Weight
The 9-question assessment
Which joint, which procedure, how long ago, what you’re chasing. Ninety seconds, and it places you in a phase before we ever speak.
A straight answer
On a call or in the clinic we tell you what we think is achievable and what isn’t. If the program isn’t right for your situation, we say so.
Your program, written down
Every exercise, set, load and video, laid out by day and week, with the clearance lanes marked. You leave knowing exactly what this week looks like.
Difference
Six Things You Won’t Get From A General PT Clinic
A specialist, not a generalist
A board-certified sports physical therapist who has managed post-injection recoveries specifically, not as an occasional case.
A written arc, not a visit list
You can see all six phases on day one, including the part you haven’t earned yet.
Clearance answered in advance
The green / amber / red lanes mean you never have to guess between sessions.
Loads that actually progress
Weight changes are written in ahead of time, with the milestone that has to hold for the change to happen.
Local or anywhere
Two clinics in San Diego, and a virtual track that runs the same arc for clients on other continents.
Pricing, told to you upfront
You get the figure and the current availability before you commit to anything. No quote that arrives three conversations later.

The Questions We Get Asked Most
Do you perform the stem cell injections?
No. We’re a physical therapy and regenerative therapy practice. Almost every client had their procedure somewhere else — often out of state or overseas — and came to us for the recovery. Your injecting physician isn’t a competitor of ours; they’re where most of our clients come from.
I had my injection months ago. Is it too late?
Usually not. What’s available changes depending on how far out you are and what’s happened since, which is exactly what the assessment is for. We’d rather tell you honestly than sell you a program that can’t deliver.
I don’t live in California. Does the virtual program really work?
It’s our main track. The program is written the same way, the check-ins happen on video, and clients run it in their own gyms. What you lose is the hands-on modalities — which is what the San Diego track adds.
Do you take insurance?
We don’t bill insurance for you. That’s what lets us build a six-month program around your procedure rather than around a visit authorisation — the plan follows your tissue, not an approval window. We’ll go through the figures with you before you commit to anything.
What if I flare up?
You probably will at some point, and it isn’t a failure. We change the lane you’re working in, keep the arc intact, and use it as information about your current ceiling.
How much of my week does this take?
Early phases are short daily sessions — fifteen to twenty minutes. By the strength and power phases you’re back in a normal training week, which is the point.

Most people leave the clinic with a rest period and a date to come back. Nobody tells them what they are cleared to do in between — so they either sit still for twelve weeks or go straight back to the old routine and pay for it.
Page 6 is the green, amber and red clearance page. What you can do right now, what waits, and what to stop. Fifteen pages, and it costs nothing.
